Havering Sailing Club

ff

WHO WE ARE: a friendly group who get together to race our boats on Saturday afternoons at Stubbers Sailing Centre, Ockendon Road, Upminster, Essex RM14 2TY, between the months of March and November.

.......AND WE CAN OFFER: an established fleet of Mirror dinghies and GP14's. We are affiliated to the Royal Yachting Association. Members are welcome to bring their own boats and, for an additional fee, can, subject to space availability, store their boat at the lake. We aim to be on the water racing by 12.30. After the first race we stop for a short lunch break and then continue sailing until 4.30pm.

On the second Saturday of each month between May and October we intend to have all our mirror sailors out competing for the Peter Morton trophy. Peter was an avid mirror racer and we hope he will be watching closely from his lake in the sky where the wind and tides are "just right".

WHAT YOU SHOULD WEAR: You should have a full change of warm clothing with you, just in case, and must wear soft shoes when in a boat. You will be expected to help put away your boat after sailing and in due course, to become proficient, in setting up your boat prior to going out on the water. Full guidance will, of course, be given.

MORE QUESTIONS ? You can contact the secretary, June Hutson on tel. 01375 846153 if you would like any more information about the club. Alternatively come to the lake at around noon and come and see us in action.

COME AND SEE US AT THE STUBBERS CENTRE OPEN DAY ON 13TH MAY, there will be lots to see and do. Opening times are 11am until 5pm.

The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails.
